So I was never a fan of the Star Wars franchise. It never appealed to me for some reason. I always thought it’s because it’s just way too cheesy for me, and doesn’t really make sense in the grand scheme of sci-fi-ness. There are a lot of plot holes, and the acting really is terrible if you get down to it. Or maybe I just don’t like George Lucas. After all, I hate the Indiana Jones franchise as well – and I love adventure and archeology.
But I realized after watching the above so-freaking-funny Cracked After Hours vid, Why ‘Star Wars’ Is Secretly Terrifying for Women, why I’m anti-George Lucas: He’s sexist! Like, seriously sexist! It all makes sense now. I may not have put serious thought into it before listening to these four break it down but I think I may have subconsciously known it all along. Star Wars is a crash-course in pop culture misogyny in space.
Watch the video and tell us what you think. Do they have a point or are they blowing it out of proportion?
