Enjoy the Enchanting World of the Montpelier Festivals of Herbs, Tea and the Arts at the Montpelier Mansion and Montpelier Arts Center April 28
By Annamarya Scaccia
There’s something charming about herbs, teas, and the arts. Whether you’re a crafter, a planter or just a connoisseur, there’s a certain level of fascination that results when dealing with the intricacies of these subjects. And when they’re put together, there’s something magical.
This is the aura of the Montpelier Festival of Herbs, Tea and the Arts. Now in its fifteen year, the growing family-friendly festival will once again indulge the senses with an array of vendors, exhibitors, music, lectures, workshops, activities and fare on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be held at Montpelier Mansion and Montpelier Arts Center, 9650/9652 Muirkirk Road in Laurel.
From florae and garden trimmings to artisan crafts, gourment grub and live entertainment, the “Teas of the World”-themed festival will have an interest for everyone. Lectures on aromatherapy, history and uses of lavender, vegetable and herb gardening, and how to use herbs and spices will be held throughout the day, while kid-friendly folk, Calypso and Caribbean music, and 18th and 19thcentury period pieces will be performed at various times. Children can participate in antiquated games, put on colonial costumes, and watch live animals and the butterfly parade. And if you’re interested in the Montpelier grounds, you can take a wooded trail walk led by Timothy Wasserman every hour starting at 10:15.
In addition, over 30 vendors and exhibitors will also be present (for a full list of vendors and exhibitors, click here).
