Annie’s Art Gallery Hosts its Monthly Family Open Mic Poetry Night May 17

By Annamarya Scaccia

poetryWords are beautiful and deep. Words can put to paper the complex feelings we so often try to sort out on our own. Words are powerful like nothing else.

Every third Thursday of the month, Annie’s Art Gallery gives Prince George’s County residents the chance to express their emotions on stage during its Family Open Mic Poetry night. And if you haven’t made it to the open mic yet, you’ll have another opportunity this Thursday, May 17. It is held at the gallery, 5814 Allentown Way in Camp Springs, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Hosted by Sistah Joy Alford, this monthly poetry night is one of liberation, education and entertainment. Whether you’re fueling your love of the written word or fueling others, you will come out much more powerful than before.
