Sway Your Hips with the Vibe Collective at New Deal Café October 26
By Annamarya Scaccia
Machito. Mario Bauzá. Tito Puente. Ray Barretto. Eddie Palmieri.
These men are legends. The music they produced as Latin jazz artists is distinct and unmatched. You can hear their innovation the world over, exciting kitchens and living rooms with irresistible beats and untamed rhythms.
If the Vibe Collective has its way, you can add them to the list.
The D.C.-area Latin jazz troupe, which includes renowned percussionist Jason Walker of Takoma Park, is devoted to blending Afro-Cuban sounds through taut grooves and ingenious imrpov. Just like the men that have characterized the Latin jazz scene, the Vibe Collective crafts infectious songs that will no doubt be listened to for years to come.
Hear for yourself at New Deal Café on Friday, October 26, where they’ll play from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. The venue is located in the Roosevelt Center at 113 Centerway in Greenbelt.
