Get into the Holiday Spirit with the 26th Annual Production of the Living Christmas Tree Dec. 7-9
By Annamarya Scaccia
The meaning of the holidays is different for everyone.
Some treat it as a time to spend with family or connect with the community, while others hold it as a season of devotion—a moment to give praise for their blessings and those of their loved ones.
From December 7 to December 9, Prince Georgians can get into the holiday spirit and honor their faith when Riverdale Ministries presents its 26th production of the Living Christmas Tree. The annual winter event will once again feature holiday music performed by a festive choir singing from a 30-foot Christmas tree, and an accompanying lively symphony orchestra. The Living Christmas Tree will take place at Riverdale Ministries, 1177 Largo Road in Upper Marlboro, with three show times: 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 7; 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 8 and Sunday, December 9.
This year’s Living Christmas Tree production will feature a stage presentation following a Seattle TV news reporter who struggles to find peace and joy while covering a small town’s Christmas Festival. It will also see the return of Riverdale Ministries’ live action nativity, which will feature costumed actors and live animals telling the story of Bethlehem (show up an hour before the performance to see the setting of the nativity scene.)
